Hyperliquid
(HYPE)

Hyperliquid is a layer-one blockchain whose native asset is HYPE. Its execution has two parts: HyperCore runs on-chain trading order books, while HyperEVM supports Ethereum-compatible smart contracts under the same HyperBFT consensus. Native HYPE is distinct from WHYPE, the wrapped token used by contracts, and from a perpetual contract tracking HYPE's price.

What is Hyperliquid?

Answer sources checked

How does Hyperliquid work?

Hyperliquid uses HyperBFT consensus and delegated proof of stake to order and finalize blockchain activity. HYPE holders delegate stake to validators, while execution separates HyperCore's matching and margin engines from HyperEVM smart contracts. HyperEVM is not an Ethereum rollup or a separate blockchain; both execution environments share Hyperliquid's consensus rather than relying on Ethereum validators.

Who created Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid's documentation identifies Hyperliquid Labs as a core contributor, led by Jeff and iliensinc. It describes a team that moved from proprietary crypto market making into decentralized finance development. This supports attribution to that development team, not a claim that one individual owns the network or that every organization holding HYPE created it.

Where can you buy Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid's official onboarding guide documents buying HYPE with USDC on its spot market. A leveraged HYPE perpetual is a different product and does not deliver the token. Other venues' current spot listings, country eligibility and withdrawal networks were not verified here; this site's exchange-route matrix does not establish that a venue supports HYPE.

Before fees and spread. Rounded display, not network precision or an exchange minimum. This is an estimate, not an exchange order quote.

How can you buy Hyperliquid safely?

A HYPE purchase cannot be made risk-free, but verifying the website, asset and signing request reduces avoidable mistakes. Distinguish native HYPE from WHYPE and inspect any token approval before signing. Hyperliquid's security guidance warns against unsolicited support messages and seed-phrase disclosure; do not treat a familiar logo or an advertised HYPE giveaway as identity verification.

Sources 3

Can you buy a fraction of Hyperliquid?

Yes, HYPE supports fractional amounts, with 18 decimal places on HyperEVM documented by the project. That precision does not determine a spot venue's minimum order or lot size. HyperCore and HyperEVM also use different accounting precision, so do not assume that every fractional HyperEVM amount transfers between them without rounding effects.

Sources 3

How much does it cost to buy Hyperliquid?

Buying HYPE costs the order value plus the charges associated with your funding, trade and withdrawal route. Hyperliquid publishes separate spot and perpetual fee schedules, with trading tiers and staking-related discounts; a perpetual fee is not a spot-purchase quote. Compare the net HYPE received after fees, bid-ask spread, slippage and any later transfer costs.

Sources 3

How much is one Hyperliquid worth?

One HYPE has a changing market price, not a fixed redemption value. Consult the timestamped market-price panel for a reference, then compare the executable spot order on your chosen venue. Hyperliquid matches orders by price-time priority, so available liquidity and order size affect execution; a perpetual quote is not a purchase of native HYPE.

Sources 3

Is Hyperliquid a good investment?

HYPE has no guaranteed investment outcome: price exposure is separate from validator, wallet and application risks. Delegated staking depends on validator performance, and jailed validators stop producing rewards for their delegators. Staking also restricts when balances can return to spot, while self-custody remains vulnerable to compromised keys and malicious signatures. This is not financial advice.

Hyperliquid wallets & storage

How do you get a Hyperliquid wallet?

For HYPE on HyperEVM, use an EVM wallet that supports custom networks and add the official mainnet configuration, including chain ID 999 and HYPE as its currency. HyperCore spot and staking balances are separate from the HyperEVM balance shown by that wallet. A matching address does not mean funds appear in both execution environments.

Source 1

How can you store Hyperliquid securely?

HYPE storage requires protecting the signing keys and confirming whether the balance is on HyperCore or HyperEVM. Hyperliquid recommends private recovery backups, careful signature review and hardware-backed signing as precautions, not guarantees. Verify the hardware wallet's current support for your exact workflow; moving HYPE into a third-party contract adds risks that offline key storage cannot remove.

How do you send Hyperliquid to another wallet?

Send HYPE using the recipient's explicitly supported environment, checking HyperCore versus HyperEVM before authorizing the transfer. Hyperliquid warns that some exchanges accept HyperCore HYPE but not HyperEVM deposits, despite the familiar address format. Moving your own balance between Core and EVM is a separate system transfer; verify the destination's deposit instructions, including any memo requirements, rather than assuming compatibility.

Sources 2

How long does a Hyperliquid transfer take?

HYPE transfer time depends on the execution environment and the receiving service, so no universal completion time applies. HyperEVM uses interleaved small and large blocks, and chain inclusion is distinct from an exchange crediting a deposit. Staked HYPE adds a different process: undelegating does not start the staking-to-spot withdrawal queue until that transfer is separately initiated.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to send Hyperliquid?

HyperEVM transfers pay gas in native HYPE, using an EIP-1559 base fee and priority fee rather than a fixed token-transfer charge. Hyperliquid documents burning both fee components on HyperEVM. A Core-to-EVM system transfer has its own documented gas calculation, and a custodial withdrawal fee can differ from either; review the exact route's current estimate.

Sources 3

Can you cash out Hyperliquid for real money?

HYPE can become bank money only through a service that accepts your HYPE deposit, supports a sale and permits fiat withdrawal for your account. Selling into USDC on Hyperliquid is not itself a bank payout. A currently usable HYPE-to-bank route was not verified here; check identity requirements, deposit environment, cash withdrawal eligibility, minimums and charges separately.

Sources 2

Is Hyperliquid traceable?

Yes, HYPE activity is address-based and publicly inspectable rather than guaranteed anonymous. HyperCore documentation exposes user balances by address, and HyperEVM's HYPE transfer mechanism emits address-linked events. Those records do not inherently supply a person's legal name, but publishing an address or using an identified custodial account can connect activity with additional identity information.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Hyperliquid?

Hyper Foundation's November 2024 genesis announcement specified a maximum of 1 billion native HYPE, divided among launch recipients, contributors and reserves. That is the published launch supply policy, not a live circulation reading or a claim that no future protocol change is possible. Current staking documentation says rewards come from the future-emissions reserve, while HyperEVM documentation describes gas burns. The spot API distinguishes maximum, total and circulating supply; sample responses alone do not measure current balances.

Sources 4

Can you mine Hyperliquid?

No, native HYPE is not produced through proof-of-work mining. Hyperliquid's HyperBFT network uses validators backed by delegated stake rather than miners competing with computing power. Running a node, trading on HyperCore or supplying liquidity to an application does not create a mining entitlement; those activities have different requirements and should not be advertised as HYPE mining.

Sources 2

Can you stake Hyperliquid?

Yes, HYPE supports native delegated staking through HyperCore, where spot HYPE moves into a staking balance before delegation to validators. HyperEVM HYPE must first move to HyperCore for that workflow. Undelegation and the subsequent staking-to-spot queue are separate steps; validator commission, performance and network parameters affect outcomes, and a third-party liquid-staking token adds a separate contract layer.
