What matters for STX
Coin-specific reference notes. Exchange support must still be checked separately.
What is Stacks?
Stacks is a Bitcoin-connected smart-contract network, developed from the earlier Blockstack ecosystem, and STX is its native coin. STX is distinct from BTC and from sBTC, the Bitcoin-linked token used on Stacks. Current consensus documentation describes PoX-5, so older Stacking guides may no longer describe the active rules.
How can you buy Stacks safely?
Verify that the asset is native STX, that the chosen venue supports Stacks withdrawals, and that the destination address and any required memo are correct. Review the full quote and custody terms before paying. PoX-5 staking is a separate decision with lock and signer-manager conditions, not a requirement for simply buying STX.
How much does it cost to buy Stacks?
Buying STX costs the execution price plus any spread, trading, funding, and withdrawal charges. Ordinary Stacks transactions use STX for network fees; Bitcoin-side mining or bond operations can involve separate BTC costs. A sponsored transaction can have another account pay its fee, but sponsorship is not guaranteed for every purchase or transfer.
How can you store Stacks securely?
Protect STX recovery material offline, verify wallet downloads, and review transfers and contract calls before signing. A wallet can support both Bitcoin and Stacks without making their addresses interchangeable. Locked staking positions and sBTC exposure also have protocol risks that securing the signing device alone cannot remove.
How do you send Stacks to another wallet?
Send STX through the wallet's native Stacks transfer function to a recipient that explicitly accepts STX. Check the address, amount, fee, and any memo supplied by the receiving service; consider a small test. An STX transfer is not a BTC payment, and sBTC is a separate contract token rather than a substitute deposit asset.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you buy Stacks on Bitstamp?
This checklist does not confirm current access to STX in your Bitstamp account. Check the exact asset, spot or purchase product, and residence rules before depositing. Any public catalogue observation above is dated, product-specific evidence, not account eligibility or withdrawal support.
What is the minimum cost to buy STX on Bitstamp?
Use the minimum and total charge displayed for your exact account, asset and order type. No current account-specific minimum is verified on this page. Any dated catalogue constraints above are not a universal retail purchase minimum or a total-cost quote. Trading, funding, spread and withdrawal costs must be checked separately.
How long does buying STX on Bitstamp take?
There is no verified fixed completion time on this page. Identity review, funding settlement, order execution and withdrawal holds are separate stages. Check the status and estimated timing shown for each stage in your account; an accepted deposit does not guarantee an immediately withdrawable purchase.
What should you check before withdrawing STX?
Confirm that the exchange and wallet support the same asset representation and network, and check whether a memo or tag is required. Review the destination address, minimum, network fee and withdrawal hold. Neither account registration nor a public spot listing certifies withdrawal support, insurance or the safety of your balance. This is not financial advice.
