How does Celestia work?
Celestia combines proof-of-stake consensus with data availability sampling so light nodes can check that published block data is available. Rollups using it still need their own execution and settlement arrangements. TIA pays for Celestia transactions and blobspace; using Celestia does not mean every connected application executes directly on its chain.
Who created Celestia?
Celestia was developed by Celestia Labs and open-source contributors, with support from the Celestia Foundation. The Foundation's introduction identifies Mustafa Al-Bassam and Ismail Khoffi as co-founders. That source supports their roles, rather than implying that the Foundation alone created or centrally owns the network.
What is Celestia used for?
TIA is used to pay for Celestia blobspace and transactions, stake to secure the network, and participate in relevant governance. Rollup developers may also choose TIA as their own gas currency. That choice is optional: a rollup's use of Celestia data availability does not automatically make all its user fees payable in TIA.
Where can you buy Celestia?
Check a platform's official TIA market and deposit or withdrawal instructions for your account and country before buying. No current exchange listing is verified here. Confirm that it supports native Celestia TIA or your exact bridged representation, because a token with the same ticker on another network is not automatically compatible.

How to buy Celestia
Plan your purchaseHow much Celestia?
How can you buy Celestia safely?
Verify the asset is TIA on the intended network, confirm the recipient's deposit requirements, and inspect the final quote before buying. Keep enough native TIA for later Celestia transactions. Do not treat a rollup's association with Celestia, an airdrop promise, or a staking advertisement as proof that a purchase or signing request is safe.
Can you buy a fraction of Celestia?
Yes, TIA is divisible into smaller units; Celestia uses utia, with one million utia equal to one TIA. A venue can still enforce its own order minimum and decimal precision. Small holdings also need enough spendable TIA for fees, and staking rewards are not guaranteed merely because a balance exists.
How much does it cost to buy Celestia?
Your total TIA buying cost is the execution price plus spread, trading fees, and any funding or withdrawal charges. Self-custody transfers on Celestia also require native TIA for transaction fees. Buying blobspace or moving assets through a bridge is a different operation, so do not substitute those costs for a simple coin purchase.
How much is one Celestia worth?
Use this site's timestamped dynamic reference panel for the latest available TIA price, currency, and update time. It is a market reference rather than an executable quote. Celestia's blobspace fees and staking rewards are separate measurements, and neither fixes the fiat value of one TIA.
Is Celestia a good investment?
TIA carries market, network, custody, and supply-dilution risks, while bridged versions add bridge risk. Delegating TIA can expose it to validator slashing and withdrawal constraints; staking is not a guarantee of profit. Celestia's data availability role also does not guarantee a connected rollup's safety. This is not financial advice.

Celestia wallets & storage
How do you get a Celestia wallet?
Choose a wallet that explicitly supports Celestia mainnet and native TIA, then obtain your receiving address from that account. Protect its recovery material and retain spendable TIA for fees. Adding an unrelated EVM token contract is not equivalent to creating a native Celestia account, and testnet tokens are not mainnet TIA.
How can you store Celestia securely?
Protect the recovery material for your Celestia account offline and review every transaction before signing. Native TIA in your wallet, delegated TIA, and a liquid-staking or bridged receipt have different risks and exit paths. A secure signing device does not prevent slashing of a delegated position or a failure in a bridge contract.
Sending & cashing out Celestia
Match your networks
For TIA, copy the exact network names shown in your apps. This compares your entries, not a verified list of supported networks.
Copy the exact network name shown for this asset in each app. No supported-network catalogue is assumed here.
How do you send Celestia to another wallet?
Send native TIA only to a recipient that confirms Celestia support and gives the correct address and any required memo. Check the amount, leave TIA for fees, and consider a small test before a larger transfer. An IBC transfer or bridge route is not interchangeable with an ordinary same-chain transfer.
How long does a Celestia transfer take?
TIA transfer time depends on transaction inclusion, network operation, and the receiving service's crediting policy. Check the Celestia transaction hash rather than relying on a fixed arrival promise. A cross-chain route adds other processing steps, while undelegating staked TIA involves separate staking rules and is not an ordinary transfer.
How much does it cost to send Celestia?
Native Celestia transaction fees are paid in TIA and depend on the operation and current network conditions. Publishing a data blob has a different cost structure from sending coins because blobspace must be paid for. A platform withdrawal fee or cross-chain routing charge can be additional, so inspect the actual transaction estimate.
Can you cash out Celestia for real money?
To cash out TIA, verify that a service officially accepts the network and representation you hold, then review its sell and fiat-withdrawal options. Delegated TIA must become transferable under staking rules before it can be sent for sale. A liquid-staking receipt or bridged TIA may need a separate supported exit route.
Is Celestia traceable?
Native TIA transactions are recorded on Celestia's public chain, so addresses and transfers should not be treated as anonymous. Celestia's data availability sampling verifies availability; it is not a privacy shield for coin transfers. Exchange records or other published wallet activity can connect an address to an individual.
Supply, mining & staking
What is the maximum supply of Celestia?
Celestia created one billion TIA at genesis, but that was not a fixed maximum supply. Network issuance continues under a declining inflation policy, revised by upgrades including Lotus and v6. Allocation unlocks and staking rewards affect circulating supply differently, so an old launch supply or launch inflation figure is not today's circulating total.
Can you mine Celestia?
No, TIA is not mined with a proof-of-work hardware race. Celestia uses CometBFT and Cosmos SDK proof-of-stake, where validators and delegators participate through TIA stake. Running a data availability light or bridge node is a distinct network role and does not automatically earn native TIA block rewards.
Can you stake Celestia?
Yes, native TIA can be delegated to Celestia validators to help secure consensus and potentially receive variable rewards after validator commission. Delegators can lose funds if their validator is slashed, and unstaking has its own rules. Current documentation also says position changes do not automatically claim accrued rewards; a separate reward-withdrawal call is required.
