MultiversX
(EGLD)

MultiversX is the blockchain formerly called Elrond, and EGLD is its native coin. The legacy elrond URL does not identify a separate current asset. EGLD pays network fees and participates in staking; application tokens issued as ESDTs are different assets.

What is MultiversX?

Answer sources checked

20 answers source-reviewed with Codex assistance. Reviewed . This review covers the answers, not exchange listings or the rest of the page.

How does MultiversX work?

MultiversX combines sharded transaction execution with Secure Proof of Stake. Validators secure the network with EGLD, while the metachain coordinates information between shards. Cross-shard operations are asynchronous, so a transaction appearing in one block is not the whole settlement story.

Who created MultiversX?

MultiversX grew from the Elrond project; Beniamin Mincu is one of its co-founders. The network, its foundation and development companies are distinct from one individual. A founder's involvement does not make EGLD a company share or guarantee its market value.

What is MultiversX used for?

EGLD is used for transaction fees and validator or delegated staking on MultiversX. The chain also supports smart contracts and ESDT application tokens. Owning EGLD is different from owning those tokens, NFTs or an equity interest in businesses building on the network.

Where can you buy MultiversX?

Check a platform's official EGLD market and deposit documentation before trying to buy. Availability depends on your location, account and supported network. Confirm it supports native MultiversX EGLD rather than assuming a legacy ERD listing or another chain's token representation is interchangeable.

Before you buy

No unexpired public-catalogue observation is available in this saved guide. This is not a delisting claim or proof that earlier observations were incorrect. Confirm the exact asset, trading access and withdrawal network through the provider before buying. All exchange checklists remain available at the end of this guide.

How can you buy MultiversX safely?

Verify the asset is EGLD and that withdrawals use the MultiversX network. Compare the platform's charges and custody terms, then test the destination with a small transfer where practical. Never enter your wallet recovery phrase into an exchange, support chat or purported Elrond migration site.

Sources 2

Can you buy a fraction of MultiversX?

Yes. Native EGLD has 18 decimal places, so you do not need to buy a whole coin. A platform can impose a larger minimum order or withdrawal amount. Small balances may also be impractical to move after its charges and the network fee.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to buy MultiversX?

Your cost is the EGLD quantity multiplied by the executable price, plus trading spread, platform charges and any withdrawal fee. MultiversX transaction fees are paid in EGLD. Delegation or contract interactions have different gas requirements from a simple transfer, so inspect the actual operation.

How much is one MultiversX worth?

Use this site's timestamped dynamic reference panel for the current EGLD quote, and check when it was updated. This page concerns MultiversX, formerly Elrond, not historical ERD units. A reference quote is not an executable exchange offer and may differ from your actual trade.

MultiversX wallets & storage

How do you get a MultiversX wallet?

Use an officially documented MultiversX wallet or compatible hardware-wallet connection. Back up its recovery material offline and verify the receiving address before funding it. MultiversX addresses use the erd1 format; an Ethereum-style address copied from another network is not a substitute.

Sources 2

How can you store MultiversX securely?

Keep EGLD keys and recovery material offline, ideally with a supported hardware-wallet workflow for significant holdings. MultiversX supports additional wallet protection such as guardians, but those controls do not remove phishing or recovery risks. Verify the destination and action on the signing device.

For EGLD, copy the exact network names shown in your apps. This compares your entries, not a verified list of supported networks.

How do you send MultiversX to another wallet?

Select native EGLD in your MultiversX wallet, enter the recipient's erd1 address and review the amount and fee. Leave enough EGLD for gas and verify the recipient supports this network. Save the transaction hash; a completed blockchain transfer cannot simply be recalled.

Sources 3

How long does a MultiversX transfer take?

Timing depends on inclusion, finality and whether the operation crosses shards. MultiversX integrators use finalized, coordinated chain data rather than just the first visible block. A receiving platform may require additional checks or confirmations, so network progress is not a guaranteed account-credit time.

Source 1

How much does it cost to send MultiversX?

MultiversX charges transaction fees in EGLD using gas parameters and the operation's work. Data and contract execution can increase the charge relative to an ordinary value transfer. Use the wallet's current estimate; a protocol gas rule is not a fixed dollar fee.

Source 1

Can you cash out MultiversX for real money?

You need a service that currently accepts native EGLD and offers a permitted conversion and fiat withdrawal route for your account. Verify both steps before depositing. Unstake or undelegate first if necessary; those operations and platform processing are separate from selling the coin.

Sources 2

Is MultiversX traceable?

Ordinary EGLD transfers are recorded on a public blockchain, with addresses and transaction history available for inspection. Pseudonymous addresses are not a promise of anonymity. Cross-shard routing changes processing, not the basic public nature of standard transfers, and platforms can link accounts to identity.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of MultiversX?

Do not use the old approximately 31.4 million EGLD maximum as a current hard cap. MultiversX's economic update introduced a tail-inflation model under Staking V5. Current total and circulating supply are separate measurements and should be checked against the revised rules and chain data.

Sources 2

Can you stake MultiversX?

Yes. EGLD supports validator staking and delegation through MultiversX's staking system. Check the provider, fees, withdrawal conditions and current Staking V5 rules before committing funds. Rewards vary and do not guarantee a positive return after token price changes, dilution or operational failures.
