Kaspa
(KAS)

Kaspa is a native proof-of-work cryptocurrency, KAS, whose ledger uses a blockDAG rather than discarding every parallel block. Native KAS is not an Ethereum application token. Tokens or applications built around Kaspa should be distinguished from the coin used to pay native transaction fees.

How does Kaspa work?

Kaspa orders parallel proof-of-work blocks using its blockDAG consensus design, associated with the GHOSTDAG research line. Its current official overview distinguishes shipped upgrades from future DAGKnight work. A roadmap target should not be described as an already active consensus feature or guaranteed transaction performance.

Who created Kaspa?

Kaspa grew out of blockDAG research and open-source development. Yonatan Sompolinsky's November 2021 launch-plan article describes the network as the realization of his research and explains its community-led development. The project's current history records a public-mining launch without a premine or insider allocation. Research credentials and launch history do not guarantee KAS value or network operation.

What is Kaspa used for?

KAS is used for native transfers and transaction fees on Kaspa, while miners secure the ledger through proof-of-work. The ecosystem can build additional applications, but their tokens and promises are separate. A network roadmap does not guarantee that any specific application, payment service or resale market will succeed.

Where can you buy Kaspa?

Check current KAS markets and native Kaspa deposits or withdrawals on the platform's official pages. Do not assume a wrapped KAS token on another chain is native KAS. Availability, account restrictions and withdrawal status require direct verification; an exchange comparison matrix is insufficient evidence.

Before fees and spread. Rounded display, not network precision or an exchange minimum. This is an estimate, not an exchange order quote.

Can you buy a fraction of Kaspa?

Yes, KAS is divisible into sompi, with 100 million sompi per KAS, allowing fractional balances. Platforms can impose larger order and withdrawal minimums. Transaction fees and the wallet's handling of unspent outputs can make extremely small transfers less practical than their nominal divisibility suggests.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to buy Kaspa?

Total cost includes the KAS order value, spread, trading or payment charges and any withdrawal fee. Native Kaspa fees depend on transaction mass and current network rules, including constraints related to unspent outputs. Compare the wallet's current estimate instead of treating an old example fee as permanent.

Sources 2

Is Kaspa a good investment?

KAS carries price, custody, software and mining-security risks, while ecosystem applications add their own exposures. Public mining and a declining issuance schedule do not guarantee market demand. Upcoming consensus or programmability work should not be treated as an assurance of future liquidity, uptime or investment returns.

Kaspa wallets & storage

How do you get a Kaspa wallet?

Choose a wallet that explicitly supports native Kaspa mainnet and obtain it through verified channels. Create and protect its recovery material offline, verify the receiving address and test restoration procedures carefully. Network upgrades require compatible software; do not import keys into an unfamiliar migration or token-claim site.

Sources 3

How can you store Kaspa securely?

Protect Kaspa recovery credentials and spending keys, using compatible hardware signing where your chosen wallet supports it. The official wallet guide warns that losing a device without a backup can mean losing funds. Back up recoverable wallet control, not just a public address or screenshot of the current balance.

For KAS, copy the exact network names shown in your apps. This compares your entries, not a verified list of supported networks.

How do you send Kaspa to another wallet?

Use a native Kaspa transaction to the recipient's exact supported address and review the KAS fee and selected spendable balance. A wrapped token needs its own network route instead. Check the transaction result and the recipient's acknowledgement, particularly when a custodian applies its own deposit rules.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to send Kaspa?

Kaspa transfer fees are paid in KAS and depend on transaction mass, output structure and the selected fee rate. The SDK documentation describes estimates based on current mempool load and warns they are not timing guarantees. Use the current wallet estimate rather than assuming the same charge for every transfer.

Can you cash out Kaspa for real money?

Confirm that a platform accepts native KAS and permits your intended sale and fiat withdrawal. Follow its official deposit instructions and distinguish native coins from any wrapped representation. A completed Kaspa transaction, a filled KAS sell order and a completed cash withdrawal are three separate checks.

Source 1

Is Kaspa traceable?

Kaspa provides public explorer tools for inspecting native transactions; KAS should not be treated as a confidential-payment asset. Seeing a transaction does not by itself establish a person's identity. Counterparties or custodians can supply identifying context separately, so a pseudonymous address is not an anonymity guarantee.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Kaspa?

Kaspa's issuance is limited by a finite proof-of-work subsidy schedule. The published node implementation uses monthly rewards that eventually reach zero and accounts for integer rounding when the block rate changes. This review does not establish an exact maximum KAS total from those parameters.

For supply comparisons, distinguish scheduled issuance from circulating or spendable balances. A wallet's maximum transaction amount is not a network supply cap, and a rounded headline should not replace the applicable emission rules.

Sources 3

Can you mine Kaspa?

Yes, KAS uses proof-of-work mining with kHeavyHash, not native stake-based block production. Mining rewards decline through the emission schedule, and specialized hardware competition affects economics. Evaluate equipment, electricity and pool risks independently; a rapid block rate does not guarantee frequent rewards for an individual miner.

Sources 3

Can you stake Kaspa?

No, native KAS is not secured through proof-of-stake delegation, so simply locking coins does not earn native validator rewards. Kaspa's security comes from proof-of-work mining. A KAS yield or staking product offered by an application or custodian adds separate contract, lending or counterparty risks.
