Mina
(MINA)

Mina is a layer-1 blockchain using recursive zero-knowledge proofs to make verification compact, and MINA is its native coin. The project was previously called Coda. MINA is not simply an Ethereum token, and compact proofs do not mean that all transaction data or application state is stored in a tiny proof.

How does Mina work?

Mina combines proof-of-stake block production with recursive zk-SNARKs that certify ledger validity. Specialized SNARK workers supply proofs, while block producers include transactions and maintain consensus. This separates proof generation from stake-weighted block production; buying MINA does not automatically make your wallet an active node or hide ordinary transfers.

Who created Mina?

What is Mina used for?

MINA is used for network transaction fees, stake-weighted consensus participation, and paying for proofs in Mina's SNARK marketplace. The network also supports zero-knowledge applications called zkApps. A zkApp can prove selected facts without publishing all inputs, but holding MINA alone does not activate an application's privacy features or create a guaranteed yield.

How can you buy Mina safely?

Confirm native Mina network support, the receiving address, total cost, and withdrawal rules before buying MINA. Obtain wallet software through the official project's linked resources and inspect transaction details before signing. A purchase into a new account can incur a separate account-creation charge, so a small first deposit may not equal the final balance received.

Sources 3

How much does it cost to buy Mina?

The total cost of buying MINA includes the trade price, spread, venue fees, and any withdrawal charge. Native transfers also pay fees in MINA, and first funding of a new account has a separate creation charge. Check both the amount sent and expected balance received instead of assuming the purchase amount covers every cost.

How much is one Mina worth?

Use this site's timestamped dynamic reference panel for the latest available MINA price, its currency, and update time. That is a market reference rather than a promised execution price. Neither Mina's compact-proof design nor a block producer's staking payout policy fixes the coin's fiat value.

Sources 4

Is Mina a good investment?

MINA can lose value through market movements, inflation, network failures, custody errors, or application-specific vulnerabilities. Delegation does not guarantee that a block producer will pay a particular reward, and zero-knowledge technology is not a guarantee of investment safety. No purchase amount is universally safe. This is not financial advice.

Mina wallets & storage

How do you get a Mina wallet?

Install a wallet that explicitly supports Mina mainnet, using the links in Mina's official wallet documentation to reach the provider. Create the account, back up its recovery material privately, and verify its native Mina receiving address. Check the account-creation charge before first funding; an ordinary Ethereum account alone is not a native Mina wallet.

Sources 2

How can you store Mina securely?

Keep MINA recovery material offline, never share private keys or a seed phrase, and verify wallet and support URLs. Mina's security guidance also recommends transaction checks and stronger exchange-account protection. Native delegation keeps spending control with your wallet, but that does not protect against a compromised key or a malicious transaction you sign.

How do you send Mina to another wallet?

Use your Mina wallet to send native MINA to the recipient's confirmed Mina address, checking the amount, fee, and any requested memo before signing. Leave enough MINA for transaction costs. If the destination is a new account, check its creation charge before choosing a test amount, and confirm the transaction through an explorer.

Sources 2

How long does a Mina transfer take?

MINA transfer time depends on transaction inclusion, the network's current operation, and the recipient platform's confirmation requirements. Use the transaction identifier to check status on a Mina explorer rather than relying on a fixed delivery promise. A delegation change becoming active follows its own staking schedule and is separate from a normal coin transfer.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to send Mina?

Native Mina transaction fees are paid in MINA, with wallets typically suggesting a fee based on network conditions. Funding a new account also has a separate account-creation charge. zkApp operations and a venue's withdrawal fee can add different costs; verify the specific transaction rather than assuming compact proofs mean every transfer is free.

Sources 2

Can you cash out Mina for real money?

To cash out MINA, confirm that a service's official pages accept native Mina deposits and offer a sell and fiat-withdrawal route for your account. Review the receiving address, memo requirements, limits, and fees. Native delegation leaves MINA in your wallet, but a custodial earn product may impose different withdrawal conditions.

Sources 3

Is Mina traceable?

Ordinary MINA transfers can be inspected on Mina blockchain explorers, so they should not be treated as anonymous. Zero-knowledge proofs can protect selected zkApp inputs, but they do not automatically conceal native payment addresses and amounts. An exchange's identity records or published wallet activity can connect a visible address to a person.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Mina?

MINA is inflationary and has no fixed supply cap according to the Foundation's token distribution disclosure. New block rewards are distinct from tokens released from old allocations. Historical pre-launch estimates and reward schedules are not today's supply count or guaranteed future issuance rate, so check current network data for the live total.

Sources 2

Can you mine Mina?

MINA is not mined through Bitcoin-style proof of work; block production uses proof of stake. SNARK workers perform proof-generation work and can sell accepted proofs to block producers, which is a separate role. Historical references to a proposed SNARK-mining subsidy do not prove that such a subsidy program is currently active.

Sources 2

Can you stake Mina?

Yes, you can delegate native MINA to a block producer without transferring spending control of the coins. Current documentation describes no protocol bonding period or slashing of delegated tokens, but rewards depend on the producer's performance and payout policy. Delegation activation is not instant, and an exchange earn product can impose different custody or withdrawal terms.
