Waves
(WAVES)

Waves is a blockchain for transfers, issued assets and applications written in Ride, with WAVES as its native coin. Native WAVES is different from tokens created by users on the network. It pays for network operations and supports Leased Proof of Stake, rather than representing a bank deposit or stablecoin.

How can you buy Waves safely?

Confirm that the purchase is native WAVES and that you can withdraw to a wallet supporting Waves mainnet. Check the platform's official market, fee and withdrawal notices before paying. Waves assets can have similar names, so a token label alone is insufficient; test the destination and avoid unsolicited wallet-recovery services.

Can you buy a fraction of Waves?

Yes, WAVES is divisible into eight decimal places, with the smallest unit called a wavelet. You do not need to buy a whole coin to hold a valid on-chain balance. A venue may impose higher order or withdrawal minimums, and fee requirements can make extremely small transfers impractical.

Source 1

How much does it cost to buy Waves?

The total cost includes the WAVES amount purchased, trading spread, payment fees and any withdrawal charge. A subsequent on-chain transaction has its own Waves fee, which depends on transaction type and script requirements. Sponsored-asset support is conditional and should not be assumed for every wallet or transaction.

Is Waves a good investment?

WAVES is a volatile network asset, not a guaranteed investment or redemption claim. Consider changes to issuance, validator participation, application risks and the liquidity available to exit. Leasing rewards are not guaranteed by the protocol, and the performance of an associated stablecoin or application should not be assumed from WAVES ownership. This is not financial advice.

Waves wallets & storage

How can you store Waves securely?

Keep the Waves seed offline and protect the device used to sign transactions; verify addresses rather than relying only on aliases. Understand any account scripts before enabling them, because scripts can affect spending authorization. Leasing does not hand coins to the node, but custodial deposits and application contracts create different control arrangements.

Sending & cashing out Waves

Match your networks

For WAVES, copy the exact network names shown in your apps. This compares your entries, not a verified list of supported networks.

How do you send Waves to another wallet?

Use the recipient's Waves mainnet address or a verified Waves alias and select native WAVES in the wallet. Check the amount, fee and destination before signing, preferably testing first. Leased coins are locked against spending until the lease is canceled; a wrapped token on another chain requires different transfer instructions.

Sources 4

How long does a Waves transfer take?

Waves transfer visibility depends on block and microblock processing, followed by whatever confirmations the recipient requires. A wallet showing a transaction is not necessarily an exchange credit. Network conditions, node synchronization and custodial review can add delays, so a nominal protocol interval should not be presented as a guaranteed arrival time.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to send Waves?

The Waves fee schedule depends on the transaction and any extra script execution, rather than one universal charge for all activity. Native WAVES commonly pays fees; eligible transfers or invocations may use a sponsored asset. Check the signed transaction estimate and distinguish it from a platform's withdrawal or trading charge.

Source 1

Can you cash out Waves for real money?

Cash-out requires a venue currently accepting WAVES and offering a usable fiat sale or withdrawal path in your jurisdiction. Check native-network deposits and any memo instructions before transferring. If the coins are leased, cancel the lease before spending them; the blockchain itself does not promise bank-money redemption.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Waves?

WAVES does not have the old 100 million supply as a permanent cap. That was its initial issuance; the documentation explains that block rewards introduced additional coin creation from 2019. Future issuance depends on network monetary rules and governance, so current supply must be distinguished from the launch allocation.

Source 1

Can you stake Waves?

WAVES holders can lease coins to a generating node under Leased Proof of Stake. The coins remain in the holder's account but cannot be spent while leased. Node operators decide whether and how to share rewards; the protocol does not enforce payouts, so advertised yields and schedules require separate scrutiny.
