Zilliqa
(ZIL)

Zilliqa is a smart-contract blockchain whose native asset is ZIL. Zilliqa 2.0 uses proof of stake rather than the older mining architecture. Legacy non-EVM transactions were disabled in 2026, and the project published a migration route to EVM accounts. ZIL is distinct from gZIL and application-issued staking receipts.

How does Zilliqa work?

Who created Zilliqa?

Zilliqa was developed by a team, with Xinshu Dong identified as a co-founder in the project's own leadership announcement. That historical attribution is different from identifying today's management. The Zilliqa 2.0 protocol is a later technical evolution, not evidence that the original founder personally controls every validator.

Before fees and spread. Rounded display, not network precision or an exchange minimum. This is an estimate, not an exchange order quote.

How can you buy Zilliqa safely?

Confirm you are buying ZIL, not gZIL or a pool receipt, and inspect the withdrawal network. Legacy and EVM accounts use different derivations; changing an address prefix does not move the balance. Use current official migration instructions for old holdings, protect recovery material, and review the complete order and recipient before confirming.

Can you buy a fraction of Zilliqa?

Yes, ZIL supports fractions. Zilliqa 2.0 stores balances in Wei; older legacy APIs reported Qa with a different scale. That historical interface does not establish a currently usable legacy transfer route. Check the receiving platform's current order minimum, withdrawal precision and EVM support separately.

How much does it cost to buy Zilliqa?

Your ZIL purchase cost includes the amount ordered plus any spread, trading and funding charges shown by the provider. Withdrawing native ZIL can add a service charge distinct from Zilliqa gas. If staking is your next step, budget for contract transactions rather than assuming the purchase price covers every operation.

How much is one Zilliqa worth?

Use this page's timestamped dynamic reference panel for an indicative ZIL quote, checking its asset and update time. gZIL and liquid-staking receipts are different assets, while the 2026 legacy-account migration affects access routes rather than creating a new market quote for each address format. Confirm the actual platform order and withdrawal status before acting.

Sources 3

Is Zilliqa a good investment?

ZIL can lose value even if the protocol works as documented. The 2026 legacy-signing incident and account migration add operational risk alongside validator, contract and custody risks. A liquid-staking receipt adds separate pool exposure. Supply discussions and compensation proposals do not guarantee demand, recovery or a return. This is not financial advice.

Zilliqa wallets & storage

How do you get a Zilliqa wallet?

For current transfers, use an EVM wallet configured from official Zilliqa instructions. Legacy non-EVM accounts require the separately documented migration workflow; converting a hex address to bech32 is not migration to EVM. Obtain wallet and migration software through verified project links, and keep recovery material out of support chats and websites.

Sources 2

How can you store Zilliqa securely?

Keep Zilliqa signing keys and recovery material private, and record whether old funds are in a legacy account or the current EVM environment. Follow the official legacy-migration walkthrough rather than a message offering help. The project describes a local proof-based tool; that description is not an independent guarantee that any downloaded app is safe.

Sending & cashing out Zilliqa

Match your networks

For ZIL, copy the exact network names shown in your apps. This compares your entries, not a verified list of supported networks.

Can you cash out Zilliqa for real money?

Cash out ZIL only through a service currently accepting the supported Zilliqa EVM deposit route and offering fiat withdrawal for your account. Check deposit status before sending; a historical legacy address or listing is not proof of current support. Swapping into another token or stablecoin is not a bank payment.

Is Zilliqa traceable?

Ordinary Zilliqa activity is recorded on a public blockchain, with transactions and balances available through network interfaces. EVM and legacy accounts have different address derivations, but that is not an anonymity feature. Exchange records, public addresses or transfer patterns can connect activity to a person without a name appearing on-chain.

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Zilliqa?

Zilliqa's June 2023 tokenomics post states a limit of 21 billion ZIL. Its September 2, 2026 update proposed minting additional ZIL for compensation, subject to a community vote; that announcement is not evidence that the mint was approved or executed. The 21 billion figure is therefore the historical published limit, not a guarantee that governance can never change issuance. Staking-pool receipts represent shares of deposited ZIL, not a separate native-coin supply.

Sources 3

Can you mine Zilliqa?

No, Zilliqa 2.0 does not require proof-of-work mining. Its validators use proof of stake, so older ZIL mining guides describe a superseded architecture. Buying mining hardware or joining a legacy pool does not make you a validator on the current design; check the official validator requirements instead.

Source 1

Can you stake Zilliqa?

Yes, Zilliqa 2.0 supports validator staking and delegation through pool contracts. Official reference implementations include liquid and non-liquid variants; a liquid receipt represents a pool share, not an unrestricted native ZIL balance. Check the operator, contract, withdrawal conditions and fees, and do not assume advertised rewards are guaranteed.
