How does Horizen work?
Horizen's current chain uses an Ethereum-compatible rollup stack above Base, with privacy tooling selected by applications. ZEN balances on Base move through an ERC-20 contract rather than the former proof-of-work ledger. ETH pays execution costs, and confidential application features do not automatically make every token transfer private.
Who created Horizen?
Horizen's own historical report identifies Rob Viglione and Rolf Versluis as co-founders. Horizen Labs is a separate development company involved in the later migration contracts and infrastructure.
