How does SKALE work?
SKALE chains use validator committees and an asynchronous Byzantine-fault-tolerant consensus design with threshold signatures. In the Ethereum-connected network, delegated SKL provides economic collateral through Ethereum contracts. Chain execution and SKL's token location are separate concepts, and newer Expand deployments have different operational models.
Who created SKALE?
SKALE's official publications identify Jack O'Holleran and Stan Kladko as co-founders. Their team developed a multichain system rather than a single cryptocurrency payment ledger. Historical founder attribution does not guarantee token value or establish who operates every current SKALE chain.
What is SKALE used for?
SKL supports validator delegation, governance and payment for network resources under SKALE's economic model. Applications can use SKALE chains for EVM contracts, games or agent payments, with privacy features on supported deployments. Buying SKL is not the same as purchasing every deployment's gas or compute credits.

Before buying SKL, match its contract and network against SKALE's official token registry. Do not purchase sFUEL as though it were SKL, or assume CREDIT is the same asset. Confirm the withdrawal route and any delegation lock before authorizing a trade or a staking transaction. An October 6, 2026 SKALE update reported an IMA bridge attack and pause. Confirm whether your delivery route uses that bridge and whether later updates restore that route.

Send SKL only after matching the recipient's network and token deployment to the official registry. Original Ethereum SKL uses Ethereum transactions; bridged SKL on Europa or another listed chain follows that chain's rules. SKALE's current tokenomics page states a fixed maximum of 7 billion SKL. That ceiling is different from the circulating balance and from token allocations used for validator rewards. Bridged SKL deployments represent tokens across networks and should not simply be added together as independent newly issued supplies.
Can you mine SKALE?
SKL is not mined as a proof-of-work reward coin; the Ethereum-connected SKALE network uses delegated proof-of-stake collateral. Some SKALE chains support a proof-of-work mechanism for gasless transaction submission, but that anti-spam calculation is not SKL issuance or a mining-income promise.
Can you stake SKALE?
SKL can be delegated to validators through the Ethereum-based staking system described by SKALE. Validator acceptance, activation, locking and undelegation are distinct stages, and tokens can remain visible but nontransferable in your wallet.
