Starknet
(STRK)

Starknet is an Ethereum Layer 2 validity rollup using STARK proofs, and STRK is its token for fees, governance, and staking. Its native execution and account model are not simply Ethereum's EVM accounts on another network. STRK held on Ethereum and STRK held on Starknet must be distinguished by their chain and contract, even though they share the same ticker.

What is Starknet?

How does Starknet work?

Starknet executes transactions off Ethereum, proves valid state changes with STARK-based proofs, and updates its proven state on Ethereum. Compressed state differences are published through Ethereum data-availability mechanisms, including blobs or calldata. STRK staking has phased validator responsibilities, but it does not replace Ethereum's own consensus or mean that every part of Starknet block production is already permissionless.

Who created Starknet?

StarkWare developed Starknet and described its network launch and initial token creation in its decentralization proposal. The independent Starknet Foundation was subsequently established to advance the network as a public good, rather than being identical to StarkWare or owning every application. Network developers, foundation governance, and STRK holders therefore should not be collapsed into a single creator or operator.

Sources 2

What is Starknet used for?

STRK pays current Starknet transaction fees and supports governance and the network's staking protocol. Applications use Starknet for smart-contract execution, while validators and delegators participate under staking-specific rules. Holding STRK does not automatically perform those roles or produce rewards, and Ethereum-side transactions still require Ethereum gas rather than using STRK as Ethereum's native fee asset.

Where can you buy Starknet?

A currently supported STRK venue and country-specific account route were not verified here. Check the venue's own market and funding pages, making sure it supports STRK on the chain you intend to use rather than merely supporting ETH or another Starknet asset. The official wallet directory helps identify Starknet-compatible wallets, but neither that directory nor a route matrix proves an exchange listing or withdrawal service.

Before fees and spread. Rounded display, not network precision or an exchange minimum. This is an estimate, not an exchange order quote.

How can you buy Starknet safely?

Reduce STRK purchase risks by checking the chain, official token contract, and receiving wallet's actual Starknet support. Do not treat an old Provisions claim link as a purchase route: the foundation's announcement now marks that program discontinued. Confirm the order preview and transfer permissions, and keep the current fee asset available; these checks do not guarantee protection against account, contract, or market losses.

Sources 4

Can you buy a fraction of Starknet?

STRK supports fractional on-chain amounts: Starknet's staking documentation specifies 10^18 FRI as one STRK. That accounting precision does not prove that an exchange accepts every such fraction as an order or withdrawal. Check its quantity step, minimum order value, and supported network separately, and do not confuse a small STRK balance with enough spendable funds for fees or validator participation.

Source 1

How much does it cost to buy Starknet?

Buying STRK costs the token order value plus the chosen service's spread, funding, trading, and withdrawal charges. An on-chain Starknet purchase has STRK-denominated resource fees, and setting up an undeployed account may add an account-deployment transaction. Ethereum bridging or fiat funding adds separate steps, so compare the net STRK received rather than assuming a low quoted swap fee is the full acquisition cost.

Sources 3

How much is one Starknet worth?

One STRK has a market-driven price, not a fixed value derived from Starknet's transaction count or staking reward formula. Check the timestamped price display and then the actual quote for the intended amount and trading currency. The protocol uses STRK-denominated fee bounds, but those resource limits are not a cash redemption rate or a prediction of the token's future price.

Sources 2

Is Starknet a good investment?

STRK is a volatile protocol token, and its fee and staking uses do not make it suitable for every investor. Relevant risks include reward-driven new issuance, phased decentralization, contract and bridge dependencies, and staking exit restrictions or validator performance. A validity proof verifies computation under protocol rules; it does not insure token value or eliminate custody risk. This is not financial advice.

Starknet wallets & storage

How do you get a Starknet wallet?

Choose a wallet listed for Starknet, such as Ready or Braavos, and follow its Starknet account-creation and recovery procedure. Starknet accounts are smart contracts, so an account may need deployment before it can transact. A normal Ethereum network entry is not sufficient compatibility; the official directory describes a dedicated MetaMask Snap rather than assuming an ordinary EVM account works unchanged.

Sources 2

How can you store Starknet securely?

Protect STRK using the recovery and signing controls of the actual Starknet account, not assumptions imported from an Ethereum wallet. For staking, Starknet documents separate staking, reward, and operational addresses so frequent validator operations need not expose the same account used for principal. The wallet directory links Ledger integrations, but exact device, firmware, and transaction compatibility still require provider-specific verification before use.

How do you send Starknet to another wallet?

To transfer STRK on Starknet, use a compatible wallet, select the verified STRK token, and confirm the recipient accepts Starknet rather than Ethereum. Leave STRK for the current transaction fee and inspect both execution and finality status after signing. Crossing to Ethereum requires a supported bridge and cross-layer message processing, not pasting an Ethereum address into an ordinary Starknet send.

Sources 3

How long does a Starknet transfer take?

STRK transfer timing depends on the transaction's execution and settlement status, not one universal confirmation timer. Starknet distinguishes preconfirmation, acceptance on Layer 2, and acceptance on Layer 1, while a reverted transaction can still incur fees. A bridge exit also requires the cross-layer message to become available and be consumed on Ethereum, and custodial services apply their own crediting policies.

Sources 2

How much does it cost to send Starknet?

Current Starknet v3 transactions pay fees in STRK, with bounds for L2 gas, L1 gas, and L1 data gas. The charge reflects computation and data resources rather than a fixed price per STRK transferred; older instructions offering ETH fee payment should not be reused as current guidance. Check the complete wallet estimate, and distinguish it from Ethereum-side bridge costs or an exchange withdrawal charge.

Sources 2

Can you cash out Starknet for real money?

STRK reaches a bank account only through a supported sale and fiat-payout service, which was not verified for your jurisdiction here. Check that the service accepts your STRK network before sending; a bridge exit to Ethereum has message and claim processing rather than a bank-payment function. Exchanging STRK for ETH or a stablecoin is a crypto conversion, not proof that a cash withdrawal is available.

Sources 3

Is Starknet traceable?

Ordinary public STRK transfers are traceable through transaction receipts, events, and account activity; STARK validity proofs do not automatically make them anonymous. Starknet publishes state-reconstruction data on Ethereum, and transaction records separately expose execution and finality information. Specialized privacy applications need their own analysis, so neither the zero-knowledge label nor a network-wide privacy description establishes that a standard STRK transfer hides its participants.

Sources 2

Supply, mining & staking

What is the maximum supply of Starknet?

STRK does not have a verified fixed 10-billion-token ceiling: StarkWare described 10 billion as the initial mint, with additional issuance planned. Starknet's current staking page explicitly describes rewards in newly minted STRK. Initial allocation, present total supply, circulating supply, and future issuance are therefore separate figures; the original mint should not be labeled an immutable maximum.

Sources 2

Can you mine Starknet?

STRK is not mined through proof-of-work hashing. Starknet relies on validity proving and an incrementally introduced staking protocol, with newly issued rewards governed by staking rules rather than a Bitcoin-style mining subsidy. Running a prover or validator involves different technical responsibilities, and the existence of computationally demanding proofs does not establish a permissionless hardware-mining payout for STRK.

Sources 2

Can you stake Starknet?

Yes, STRK can be staked through Starknet's protocol as a validator or delegated to a validator that accepts delegation. Current documentation describes phased responsibilities including block attestations, with commissions, reward conditions, and an unstaking intent followed by a separate withdrawal action. This is not ETH staking on Ethereum, and support for tokenized BTC wrappers does not mean native Bitcoin consensus has become proof of stake.
